The Eldar of the Fir Mathedyann craftworld have been encountered several times over the past centuries by forces of the Imperium; on only a few of those occasions have they not been on the field of battle. It is from these sparse non-hostile encounters that the Imperium has learned what is currently known and conjectured about this most curious of craftworlds.
The Craftworld’s population is comprised largely of Eldar lore masters and artisans and has little in the way of forges—-rather, what Man would consider to be forges. Consequently, when forced to battle, the Forces of the Fir Mathedyann field predominantly infantry with little in the way of dedicated tanks or transports.
Due to their highly academic nature, the civilian militia, the so-called “Guardians,” figure a large part of the craftworld’s numbers. However, the dedicated warrior caste, the “Aspect Warriors,” are never far from the Guardian war host; indeed, all currently known Aspects have been encountered fighting alongside the Fir Mathedyann in every recorded engagement.
Several Marine chapters and Guard regiments have done battle with these blasphemous “protectors of ancient ways” (as their name loosely translates into); and though none have ever been crippled from such run-ins, it must be noted that decisive victories against this craftworld have been strangely elusive.
It is this Inqisitor’s humble opinion that extreme caution be hazarded by all forces of His Holy Emperor’s Imperium when encountering the Fir Mathedyann craftworld, in conflict or otherwise.
Included with this report is a terminology of the craftworld’s titles bequeathed to its soldiers as reference for all commanders with Upsilon-level clearance. Some translations are aproximate.
