Here’s my work in (not)progress for the Strange Aeons Brushoff 2011 painting competition being run by the Strange Aeons company, Uncle Mike’s Worldwide. Things aren’t as dire as they may look, considering I really only decided I should man up and do an entry last week…eight days before the deadline.
My painted portion of "Cultists III"
It’s now two days before the deadline; all I’ve gotten done is cleaned and primed a mess of SA miniatures and applied a first coat of paint on the two cultists (when combined with the painted ‘bomb’ cultist, they are the contents of the “Cultists III” pack and thus, a legal Brushoff entry).
I’m apparently podcasting once more this week!
Y U not entertained? We even has scotch!
With but spare moments free to me today, I thought I’d quickly throw a post up on the ol’ blog. The last ten days have indeed been hectic, anxiety-filled days. The quick run down:
Tread softly here! Go reverently and slow!
Yea, let your soul go down upon its knees,
And with bowed head and heart abased strive hard
To grasp the future gain in this sore loss!
For not one foot of this dank sod but drank
Its surfeit of the blood of gallant men.
Who, for their faith, their hope,—for Life and Liberty,
Here made the sacrifice,—here gave their lives.
And gave right willingly—for you and me.
From this vast altar—pile the souls of men
Sped up to God in countless multitudes:
On this grim cratered ridge they gave their all.
And, giving, won
The peace of Heaven and Immortality.
Our hearts go out to them in boundless gratitude:
If ours—then God’s: for His vast charity
All sees, all knows, all comprehends—save bounds.
He has repaid their sacrifice:—and we—?
God help us if we fail to pay our debt
In fullest full and unstintingly!

I just checked out the 11th Company Podcast site: the episode (#93) where I was interviewed on has been posted. It’s a joint interview, where, as I mentioned in last week’s Halloween post, Nathan, Teri and I all talk about how we conceptualised, organised and ran last year’s Massacre On Isstvan V tournament-ish event.
